Ok. I've made up my mind. I will NOT be posting here anymore. I'm just not happy with the whole Blogger thing. I can't do a lot with the display of my blog because I am clueless when it comes to CSS and HTML. I have no time to sit down and really learn either.

Instead, you can now find my knitting blog HERE.

I'll still be keeping this account, so that I can comment at John's blog, but that's about it.

And being that I think my SP is the only one who reads this ... I hope that vacation was good and that you're having a good summer! I move next weekend !!!!

Swap - Bot mania

So I've gotten into this website that my SP coordinator is part of. There are all kinds of crafty swaps and fun stuff to participate in. I've done a CD swap and a pen pal swap ... it's really neat and is a great way to meet new people. There are also a few great knitting swaps!

OH YES ... I also got a postcard in the mail the other day from my SP!!!! She went to a sheep and wool show in Colorado. It was sweet of her to think of me and send the quick note, and I really enjoy getting postcards too!!!!! She felt the need to tease me about the next package she's sending too! Evil ... but with style. I'd do the same thing if it was me. LOL

Lace !!!!

My first real attempt with lace has turned out so well! I made a scarve for a friend's b-day, using Cascade Indulgence. The pattern is simple ; knit 5 rows, k1 *k 2 tog, yo* repeat until last stitch, k1. It turned out so nice. Right now it's blocking in the kitchen.

And here, it's shown to size beside an baking spoon. The whole thing is about 5 spoon lengths! :-)

Second SP gift

Horay! I got my second gift from my SP spoiler yesterday! It included a ball of her own hand-spun/hand-dyed yarns!!! It's pink and white colors ... which I just LOVE! Then there was a knitted yarn holder that she made herself, again from her own yarns ... it's really cool. You just slip in through a center pull ball and put the loop end around you wrist. Perfect for when I'm knitting in line !!!! There was also a nice hand written note, which is so sweet and thoughtful!

I would post pics ... but my camera has an attitude at the moment and it's being stubborn. But I love my gifts !!! Thanks SP!!!

I'm doing my best to post often, but I fear that I'm not as good as I should be.

And now ... onto the good stuff! I finished a couple socks. Not in the same pair, but for my first two - they look great!!!

So this is my second sock. I have the crappiest camera! But still ... I think it turned out well. It's big on me, but that's ok - gonna gift the pair to my mom for her anniversary. It's Blue Moon Fiber Arts "Socks That Rock" in Apple Valley Road. This is the BEST sport weight yarn I've ever worked with!!!!

This is my FIRST sock. It's on some DiGrossa ( I think that's right) yarn that Jaya had gotten me a while back! I'm very proud of it, and I will make a companion as soon as I finish the pair for my mom.

NOW everyone wants socks for Christmas! Craziness ... good, but crazy!

Hello knitting world! I wanted to stop by and say hello, if only for my Secret Pal's sake. I've been busy with knitting and visiting Virginia. I missed someone very much and just had to get my ass down south to see him. And now ..... I have a WONDERFUL AMAZING boyfriend. His name is John and he's so sweet. And the wild thing ... I've known him since high school. We even dated for a while in high school. Actually, we realized that we went to middle school together too, but we didn't really start to hang out until my sophmore year. It's been an amazing second chance; to find him again and now be in a relationship with him ..... it's just perfect.

So as far as knitting goes, I've finished my first sock! I'll have to wait until I get back to NY to post pics, but it looks great. I'm proud of myself, it being my FIRST sock and all. I'm also working on a basic garter stitch wrap in black/purple mohair, a scarve for a friend's birthday, and planning .... much planning .... gotta start my Christmas knitting!

So, alas, I'm still here. Not that anyone reads this ... well, my SP, but most of the good dirt on me is at my Live Journal site. :-)

So I go to get the mail today ... and there it is! A package from my SP!!

Now, I have a older digital camera, so let me describe the contents.
- A very sweet card with lots of well wishes!
- A bar of natural Lavender Oatmeal soap!
- Chocolate!!! The "Texas Chocolate Bar"
- A beautiful pair of chopsticks to add to my collection!

Pre-Felting Fun

This is pre-felt, but I thought I'd show it off because I love the color combination in this. Ignore the fridge ... that's gonna go away after I felt it.

I got my Secret Pal today for SP8!!!!! I'm so hyped about it and I can't wait to get things together for them.
I also got an email from who has me as an SP. Awesome - I am so excited about the whole thing.

Well, my knee is still doing well. I've been vomiting all day, and that was no fun. But I've worked up my courage to try and eat some sushi, so that's a good sign. It's never good not holding food down, but when I don't even want sushi, that's a scary sign. But I do, and my Dad went out to get it for me. My head is still swimming about a bit, but no fear, I've taken refuge in giner ale until my Dad returns.

I just had knee surgery, so I'll have fun focusing on my SP while I recover. And the great silver lining is ... I can knit ALL DAY!!!

I finally finished my first pair of fingerless gloves. I took them to Knit Night, to show them off. My dear friend, Tina, had this to say - "You could signal aliens with those !!!" When I say bright pink, I mean BRIGHT PINK! And you know what's even better ... I actually have a dress that I can wear these with !!!

Getting Ready ... SP8 is on the horizon

I'm super excited about the SP8 that's comming up. I've never done one this big before, just a small one with my local knitting group. And now I'm looking at my Blog and thinking, Wow, I don't post here that much. How will my SP get to know me? So, I'm posting the link to my Live Journal, which is where most of my daily posts go.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
Okay - I HATE novelty yarns (fun fur and such.) Other then that, I like most anything else - I'm not picky. Lamb's Pride worsted in my absolute favorite.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
I have a Lantern Moon case for my straight needles and circs, and a cloth roll-style case for my DPNS.

3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?I've been knitting since January, but it's become like second-nature to me. I'd say I'm at an intermediate level.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yes indeed.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I love lavender and anything that's more natural - not perfumey.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
My favorite is Cadburry Caramel. But again, I'm not picky.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
Knitting is about it for me right now. After my knee surgery, I may get into spinning.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
Anything but Rap and Country (that does NOT include Bluegrass.) I'm a huge fan of Beth Orton, Tori Amos, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul Simon. I'm MP3 ready both at home and on the road.

9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I adore purple, hot pink, and sky blue. I don't like yellow.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I currently live alone and don't have any pets (landlord's choice, not mine - my parents have 5 cats!)

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
I love scarves and hats ... I'll wear mittens but I'm not all that big on ponchos.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I've just finished my first pair of fingerless gloves and I'm almost done my first sock ... those are the current obsessions.

13. What are you knitting right now?
My first pair of socks, and a multi-directional scarf.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Oh yes ! There is so much thought in something handmade.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Bamboo all the way ... except for my Denise needles.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?Nope.

17. How did you learn to knit?
My good friend Tina taught me .... I'm also a member of the Columbia/Green Counties, NY, SNB

Two weeks

19. What is your favorite holiday?
Halloween. I let my inner goth out once a year.

Chopsticks. I have about 15 pairs and counting. Also anything having to do with sushi, Geisha, or Japan.

21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I don't have any subscriptions as of yet, and all the books I really want are on my Amazon Wish List.

22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Fair Isle seems very interesting to me.

23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
I'm learning socks right now ... I'm a size 7/8 (depends on the shoes.)

So I have my first felted project almost finished. I need to sew the edges again near the top and line the bag ... but I want to do that tomorrow, as the bag should be dry by then.

Charity Knitting

So, as you all know, I'm on medical leave. So I have decided to throw myself full force into some charity knitting. Mostly to keep me busy, but to give something back to people and use up my yarn stash.

So, here's some picutres of what I've got done so far!!!

This is a baby hat in Wool Ease, Forrest Green Heather. It's based on the Baby Umbilical Cord Hat from Debbie Stoller's Stitch and Bitch.

This is a child's hat, based on several various hat patterns that I have. It's done in Lambs Pride Bulky in Limeade and Cascade (Lush I think - the Angora/Alpaca) in Black.

The pictures below are of two scarves for children. The one on the left is made from Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Stream, and the one on the right is in a bulky weight black yarn ( I forget what I used ... it was in a bag with all my other ends of black yarn. ) The
